It took me a long time to actually write this blog as I ventured to tear down some walls in my own life. Overcoming fear, insecurity, comparison, rejection, and even bitterness to really allow God’s light to shine through me. One thing I love is a good conversation about the processes of life, and discussion about our personal walks with the Lord, because It helps shine a light on new perspectives and provides encouragement in my own walk with the Lord. With this dialogue it is my desire to talk about my growth process and the process of other women and young ladies while becoming all that God desires. So, I took some time and studied about being the light of the world. (or Glowing God’s Glow, which is how I am referencing it.) You often get beat up by the phrase “Don’t do anything to be seen”, or someone whispers “I think she just wants to be seen”. Those phrases are often the phrases we hear in our heads over and over, making it difficult to actually do something that shines a LIGHT in the world, for fear that someone will question your motives. I do believe God does a heart work in each of us, pruning our motives and redirecting the reason why we do a thing. However, I believe each of us who walk in relationship with God know that there is a Light inside of us that God has given us to Glow up the world. We may not be called to the masses, but someone might need the fraction of the light God has put in us.
The scripture tells us in many verses that we are a LIGHT! I am not speaking of doing good deeds to be seen by man, but I believe you can desire to spread God’s Glow or light by encouraging others and talking about him! With the Glowing Up dialogue, it is my desire to encourage women to use their gifts to glorify God, and serve others. I also want to speak about what they do to live their best life now, what obstacles they have overcome in their quest to become all God desires, and how they hold on the Word of God. Many times, we see the GLOW in people but don’t dialogue about their process of becoming. I love to talk about processes, so that someone else might be encouraged to keep going.
God’s light was not given merely for our own private use, but for the public good of mankind, and we are placed as lights in the world. So instead of feeling afraid to talking about highlighting God’s Glow. I wanted to encourage others that it’s important to discuss God’s unique fingerprint within us to share with the world.
Jesus tells us that as disciples we play a valuable role in our culture. You are the light of the world.” ( Matt 5:14-16) People often get very disturbed because the world is dark. That’s because the world is not light. As a disciple of Jesus Christ, We’re “the light of the world.” What we need a group of people who are unapologetically the Light. We are a city set on a hill, We should give hope and direction for weary pilgrims Lamps were essential for finding one’s way in enclosed areas during the night and were placed under a basket only to extinguish the light. Yet, many of us extinguish our lamp when we go to work, school, or into our neighborhood or community. We assume we need to blend in rather than bring a little heat. But in these two parables, Jesus says heat it up and lift it up. Give the world a taste and glimpse of who Christ is.
This verse is a command, not a suggestion. Jesus says, “Since you are light, SHINE!” We are not here to get used to the dark but to shine as lights. The light of Christ is to shine in and through us “before men.” It is important to notice that the “light” is not equated with just good works. Rather, the light illumines the good works in such a way that men notice them and glorify God.
The purpose of “GLOWIN” our light is to point others to the God who is working in us.
So I say Glow , GLOW, Glow!
